Westfield lacrosse drops opener to Zionsville
The Zionsville Eagles came out firing Monday night, overwhelming Westfield Rocks in a 16-5 conference victory at Westfield. Zionsville built an early 8-2 halftime advantage and never let up, matching that offensive output again in the second half to secure the win.
Senior standout Alexa DeHart led the Eagles attack with eight goals on an efficient 10 shots, while Addie Faber added four goals and an assist. Zionsville controlled possession throughout the night, dominating the draw circle with 18 draw wins and forcing 11 caused turnovers defensively.
Westfield found bright spots offensively from Sophia Merriman, who scored three goals on three shots, and Ella Schaefer, who added two goals. Despite efficient finishing from the duo, the Rocks struggled to slow Zionsville’s relentless pace and transition game.
